Where it all began:
The Duquesne University Marching Band was started in the summer of 2007 when the Athletic Department decided that it no longer wanted a marching band.
What next!?
Once many of the former Pride Of Duquesne Marching Band members heard the bad news they started brainstorming and trying to find a way to still be able to march. A few weeks before school started, The Duquesne University Marching Band was started as a student organization. As a student organization the band raises all of its own money and does its own recruiting for new members.
Now what do we do?
Even though we were a student organization and we stuck together to keep the music alive, we had a few other small problems to overcome. The university would not grant the band use of its old equipment or uniforms, so where do you go when you need band equipment and uniforms for cheap? Anywhere an everywhere, there were many people involved in donating uniforms and other equipment for the band to use. Without these people the band would never have made it off the ground. About a week before the band's first scheduled performance they had finally found enough equipment for them to use, and had to buy "uniforms" which consisted of a red t-shirt and blue athletic shorts.
